Dating in 2017 - How To Go From Elite to Delete

In the beginning, God created a gentleman. Gourmet meals, slow dances and an orchestra playing in the background. He gently grabs my hand while I'm sitting at the table and asks me to dance with him. Of course I say "yes". The mood is perfect and he's handsome. We seem to connect with each other as the night rolled on. For many nights, we shared our laughs and our desire to be together.

He was very wealthy and very well known in the city we lived. He had a great reputation and was admired by many in the community. Long story short, we ended our relationship.

After our relationship ended I decided to go on Match.com to see if I could find "the one".

My profile has received over 54 THOUSAND views. Never mind the countless emails I received from men I would never date. The instant messages I received were anything but morally correct. Tonight, I finally took a chance and gave my cell phone out to a guy who I thought would be interesting, based on his profile. He said he was a captain in the Air Force, okay, that's a good mark. Along with the rest of his profile, I found interesting. Mind you this guy is 52 years old!

Well...here's how our first texting went.

Him: Hi
Him: Got Your Message
Him: Wassup
Him: Girl
Me: Who Is this?
Him: :)
Him: You have to keep ur fan club straight
Him: you sent me your number
Me: Lol
Him: true girl
Me: Right?!
Him: Get your act together
Him: Don't you remember me
Me: I don't remember you
Me: Should I?
Him: You sent me your number lol
Him: That's why I asked you how many times you threw your number out LOL
Me: oh yes that I know
Me: I don't give my number out usually
Him: ok then
Him: when you want to meet
Him: I'm chillin on Sunday in the Love Shack (at this point I wanted to ask if it was a tin roof and rusted)
Me: Were you an officer in the AF?
Him: Hello girl yes
Him: Bonk (firecracker emoticon)
Him: Did that hurt lol
Him: El capitan
Me: I don't think we are a good match
Him: you are uber sexy
Him: I'm a nurse
Him: Lock down psyche now
Him: building a new house
Him: (sends me pics of his house, actually it's a gate)
Me:Great
Him: Hell yea girl
Him : thumbs up emoticon
Me: Thanks for reaching out I don't think we are good match, sorry

I then deleted his texts (after I wrote this) and blocked his number. What happened to the good old fashioned guys who are serious about meeting someone? The gentlemen of the world? How is it a 52 year old guy can send a text message like this and expect to be taken seriously? If this is what's out there, trust me I want no part of it. I'd rather stay single. This is how you go from being an elite to being a delete.

Ken and The American Bald Eagle

Welcome to "Everybody Has A Story" this is a show hosted by Nikki Landry which is based on real life stories from everyday people. I travel around Colorado Springs and other places to find people who want to share their story. I find homeless people, waitresses, doctors, lawyers, Senior Vice Presidents of companies, military veterans, police officers, firefighters, etc... I find people who "represent" America. Their stories are real and candid. The people you see in the videos are not actors nor have they been compensated for telling their story.

This was such an amazing shoot to do. I really enjoyed Ken and his American Bald Eagle. It was an honor to be so up close and personal with them both. I learned so much in short amount of time. The fact I get to meet so many interesting people along my journey just leaves me speechless. I hope you enjoy the interview I did. You can watch it below.

Forecasting Podcasting

Just a few days ago I decided to go to a radio convention called the Worldwide Radio Summit.  It took place inside the "W" hotel in Hollywood, California. Experts in radio attend this function every year. From Vice Presidents of major radio companies all the way down the food chain. This was my first time going, it was very informative and also very tiring.

There were so many experts in the radio business there on the panels. Each panel had certain experts in their field of broadcasting. Now mind you, these experts came from all over the world to be there. We people from Sweden, Australia, Africa, Germany you name it, they were there. It was exciting to learn how radio is done overseas.

The ideas everyone brought to the table were amazing. I say it was exhausting because we ate a lot of great food (food coma), then it was time for another session (panel discussion), then a break, then more food (Food coma), then more panels... The food was first class and so was the event. I made a lot of connections with people I never met before and I also got to meet the people I've known but had no idea what they looked like. They actually turned out to be better looking than I imagined. The old saying "Face for radio" didn't apply here.

One of the major key points I personally took away from the Summit was the direction radio is heading and that's more towards podcasting. The idea of podcasting seemed to scare me a little because I wasn't too sure if the listeners were into that sort of thing. Then one of the panel experts talked about how his morning show received over 3 million downloads on their podcasts...I was like "yep, this has potential"

So, while I was on the plane coming back from L.A. I got thinking about how I could tap into that idea of podcasting and reach a larger audience. A while back I created a TV show called "Everybody Has A Story" and I really didn't do too much with it. I just kind of let the episodes sit. Please like my Facebook page for my T.V. show here Everybody Has A Story

After the convention, I thought I would try a different avenue to get my TV show out there..so, I'm trying podcasting. Below is the podcast link and please like or follow or download it, I'm still new at this and trying to understand what exactly you're supposed to do with it but nonetheless, I would love to hear your feedback as well.

Welcome to my very first podcast "Everybody Has A Story" - With Merlin the Magician.
